Investment in Knowledge and Education

In addition to facilitating an investment in knowledge and education in the Canadian beef industry, it was recognized as an objective to increase industry human resource capabilities through enhanced focus on educational programs and information resources that enhance competitiveness.

As a result of NBIDF funding, continuing education programs that provide industry participants with the opportunity to obtain further knowledge in areas such as fed cattle marketing, production, food safety and quality were developed.

Additional activities included:

  • Facilitating the development of communication tools and resources to improve the transfer of information to industry stakeholders
  • Increasing student awareness and knowledge of career opportunities within the beef industry through the creation of student fellowships and exchange programs
  • Facilitating the completion of preliminary needs assessments to evaluate human resource needs in multiple industry sectors
  • Enabling the development of curriculum to increase human resource capabilities

Projects funded from March 2002 to March 2006
