Receiving:

Feed, Water, and Bedding

Feeds, including additives, and bedding are purchased from reputable suppliers who follow good management practices.

Purchasing specifications are written, monitored, and verified.

A receiving log is kept of source, date, and description of feed.

Feed, including all raw materials and ingredients, and bedding are inspected on arrival for safety. They are sampled and tested where appropriate (e.g. wood chips do not contain PCP preservative). Feed samples are kept for possible future analysis, if needed.

Feed trucks are inspected for contaminants.

Water sources are tested for safety (e.g. coliforms, pesticides).
