All newborn calves are uniquely identified with an ear tag (CCIA approved) at birth. A back-up system is in place, such as a plastic ear tag with a metal ear tag or tattoo.

All cows and bulls are uniquely and permanently identified with an ear tag (CCIA approved). Back-up tags are used.

All cattle are identified with a CCIA (Canadian Cattle Identification Agency) approved ear tag prior to leaving the herd of origin.
