Calgary, AB – The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) is pleased with the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food report, Growing Forward 2. The committee’s emphasis on the importance of research, innovation and trade, and its subsequent recommended improvements to business risk management (BRM) programming, aligns with what Canadian cattle producers have been asking for.
“I commend the committee for listening and understanding the issues brought forward by the CCA on behalf of Canada’s cattle producers during the consultative process on Growing Forward 2,” said CCA President Martin Unrau.
The report contains 21 recommendations to improve program delivery for Growing Forward 2 (GF2), which will come into effect on April 1, 2013. Nearly one-third of the recommendations are of strategic importance to Canada’s beef cattle industry.
