CCA supports Government of Canada’s request for WTO dispute settlement panel

Calgary – The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) fully supports, and welcomes, the announcement from the Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and the Asia-Pacific Gateway, and the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, that Canada is requesting the creation of a World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement body to address South Korea’s continued ban on importing Canadian beef.

In early April, Canada took the first formal step of WTO challenge against Korea. Consultations immediately began between the two countries but due to their lack of progress, the next step of creating a dispute settlement body is now being taken.
