Japan

Canada is seeking to raise the age limit in Japan from 21 to 30 months as a step toward full World Animal health Organization (OIE) access.

To date, the U.S refused taking this aged approach so it held up access for both Canada and the U.S.

In January 2009, CCA delegates met with their U.S. counterparts at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association annual convention to encourage support of partial openings as first steps toward full OIE access. With Canada and the U.S. making the same request, Japan will be in a position to move forward.
